Top US podiatrist Dr Glen Beede was recently asked to give his opinion on the Artemis Woman Heel Smoother, here's what he had to say....
AW: Dr. Beede, we know you like the Artemis Woman Heel Smoother – that’s how we met you. You saw our product and sent us a testimonial. Why do you feel so strongly about the Heel Smoother?
Dr B: What I like about the Heel Smoother is that it works only on rigid skin, such as calluses. When the callous is reduced and the underlying flexible skin is revealed, the smoother stops its ‘debridement’ or exfoliation.
AW: There are a lot of new products out there that claim to be the best foot file to get rid of calluses, many of them use sharp edges, yet claim to be safe. How does the Heel Smoother compare to these other file products.
Dr B: I do not recommend using a blade of any kind to remove calluses as it could cause significant damage. A “cheese grater”-type file, while safer than a razor blade, cannot determine the difference between good skin and bad. As such, it does not know when to stop and will chew up anything in its path and cause damage or bleeding. Therefore, I do not recommend them to my patients. It is impossible to over-exfoliate with a Heel Smoother. It has a built-in safety device that stops the rotation if the patient presses too hard so there is no bleeding.
AW: What other advantages does the Heel Smoother have over other products?
Dr B: Have you ever tried to get rid of a callous between your toes? It can be pretty difficult trying to scrape along the sides of your toes or between them with a big pumice stone or egg-shape tool. The Heel Smoother has a small cone shape tip that allows you to get into the small areas of the foot.
Another advantage of the Heel Smoother is that the rotating tips do not generate heat. This makes it safer for virtually all patient populations and with doctor supervision, can even be used by some diabetics.
AW: Thank you, Dr. Beede, for your support of the Artemis Woman Heel Smoother.
